Below is a list of materials we do not accept or buy at Rockaway Recycling

Some materials we will accept, but will not have a rebate. They are noted with (accept) in the list.

  • Non-Metallics; including the following:

  • Tires, Dirt, Wood, Asbestos, Garbage, Plastics, Insulation, Fiberglass, Roofing, Solid Waste, Paper

  • Radioactive Materials

  • CFC/Freon

  • Explosives – firearms/ammunition

  • Compressed Gas Cylinders

  • Hazardous Liquids – Antifreeze, Oil, Paint

  • Pesticides, Oil Filters, Air bags, CRTs, Fluorescent Lights

  • Flammable Materials

  • Lithium-Ion Batteries (Check weight first)

  • Ni-Cad Batteries (Check weight first)

  • Alkaline Batteries

  • Microwaves (accept)

  • Small Household Appliances (accept)

  • Monitors

  • PCB Ballasts

  • Glass

  • Cardboard

  • Wood

  • Plastic

  • TV (old tube TVs that have copper yolk, please remove)

  • Flat Screens

  • Computer Monitors (will take the low-grade motherboard, if removed) unless it’s a Mac/Apple Device with all the components built into the screen

  • Keyboards or the Mouse

  • Mercury or anything with mercury in it (Mercury Switches)

  • Coaxial Cable

  • Metal gas containers/canisters (must have hole drilled to see inside)

  • Campers or mobile homes

  • Pop up Campers

  • Vacuum Cleaners

  • Printers or Copiers – (accept)

  • Window Air Conditioners- but will take compressor – (accept) – all fluids must be removed

  • Household Small Generators – (accept) – all fluids must be removed – steel price with 500 lb minimum

  • Carbon Fiber

  • Large quantities of imported materials

  • Hybrid Batteries

  • Drill Batteries made of Ni-cad or Lithium-Ion

  • Iron ore or powder

  • Loose material from DPF Filters (Diesel)

  • Fiber Optic Cable

  • Fiberglass boats

  • CATV Wire

We Accept ONLY When Gas Tanks Must be Removed. Oil or Freon must be drained.
